Michel Gutman

President, Arkansas Jewelers Association

JHJ’s Michel Gutman started his career in the jewelry industry 31 years ago with Service Merchandise, known at the time as “America’s Leading Jeweler.” After rising quickly through the ranks to become a jewelry manager, he accepted a job as store manager for Bailey, Banks and Biddle, and a few years later, decided to take an interview with a local independent jeweler in Danbury, Connecticut, who was looking for a new store manager. He was hired on the spot, and has remained working with independent Jewelers ever since.

Michel’s career continued on what could only be described as a continual rise to the top, culminating with a position as store manager for Sissy’s Log Cabin.  After all those years in the business, he finally had the opportunity to learn from he best, Sissy Jones herself & will always cherish his years with Sissy.

Michel is currently finishing his two year term as President of the Arkansas Jewelers Association, and in his spare time enjoys traveling, playing guitar (as a teenager, he aspired to be a rock star), photography and aviation (he’s a private pilot).  The only thing more important to Michel and his wife Kimber than their work, is their shared faith in God.

Michel says, “Jewelers Helping Jewelers is an amazing forum for everyone who is in the jewelry business.  Thanks to what Aleah has created, this small industry just got smaller, as people at any level can interact directly with some of the biggest names in the business.  Just a few short years ago, JHJ didn’t even exist, yet today many Jewelers wouldn’t know what they would do without it.  It’s the iPhone of the Jewelry industry. I have great respect for Aleah’s accomplishments, and I look forward to see where she’s going to take it next.”
